What Are Affirmations

By Meeyuen Thang

Close your eyes for a full minute and observe your thoughts. Try it. According to a study, an average human have 55,000 thoughts per day or 38 thoughts per minute. So, what were your 38 thoughts about? Were the thoughts running so fast you couldn't decipher its meaning? If you try observing your thoughts in silence with your eyes closed for a longer period of time, you will come to experience how our thoughts are a reflection of our inner beliefs. Every thought you think that is decoded into a word you say is an affirmation.

Our reality is created by our beliefs; beliefs are thought patterns we developed since childhood. These beliefs make up our personality; the positive beliefs become our strengths while the negative ones form our weaknesses. So, self development is all about transforming our weaknesses in order to have a more fulfilling life. You would have probably read numerous self-help books and attended countless motivational seminars, yet the dysfunctional thought patterns are still a hindrance to growth. Why? Most of our learning experiences are done on a conscious level. There is still growth and change on this level but some of our erroneous thought patterns are deep-seated. These flawed thoughts ought to be released and replaced with affirmative positive thoughts.

When we integrate positive experiences like a duck takes to water, it means we have made an affirmative deposit into our subconscious level. Our self-talk is a stream of affirmations and we are constantly affirming subconsciously through thoughts and speech which in turn become our life experience in every moment. The subconscious utilizes the behaviour patterns learned in the past to respond and react to all that is happening every moment in our life. If the basis for our beliefs is flawed at an early stage (e.g. "I am not good enough"), problems would crop up throughout life. The skills of being aware of our thoughts are not taught in schools as we were growing up. So, as long as we haven't understood that faulty beliefs are the source of our problems, we would be going around in much despair.

Just like how you would re-boot the central processing unit of your computer when you want to start anew, you can re-programme your thought patterns. Positive affirmations can replace invalid beliefs and create the reality you desire. Positive affirmations are short statements that help focus your awareness on your power and ability to create and have what you want. They are stated in the present tense as you repeat and say these affirmations, you will begin to create them as true for you. So in place of the erroneous belief in the example above, affirm: "I accept and love myself for who I am now"; and, "I give myself permission to be all I can be".

Use affirmations to open and expand your awareness of what you can have. Use them to align with your wisdom and to attune with the unlimited abundance of the universe. As you repeatedly say them to yourself, you will create positive, more enriching realities in your life. For a start, you may write your own affirmations on small pieces of paper and plaster them on your computer screen, car dashboard or the bathroom mirror.

An Experiment in Positive Affirmations

By Simon Meadowcroft

Sometimes after people have read my articles they write to me and tell me how they like what I have written and that I have really got things sorted out internally.

I have to tell them that my life is not organized, I often screw up and I often give the advice "do as I say and not as I do". The truth is that mentally I now have the right attitude, the problem I have is putting my thoughts into action.

In one way it is not surprising that I have mental development work to do. It is the reason that I started writing my articles in the first place and my problems with self esteem in the past are the very thing which allows me to empathize with people who are suffering with negative attitudes and negative self image.

So firstly I have to state clearly what I need to do:

'Program at a subconscious level the thinking that I have been developing at a conscious level'

The technique I intend to employ is positive affirmations, every morning I will repeat the following affirmations that I have developed.

1. I am a giving person

2. I can do anything I put my mind to

3. I am worthy of the respect of others

4. I am inspiring to others

5. I will become organized

6. I will improve my memory

7. I will sail through minor setbacks

8. I will handle major setbacks

9. I will learn the positive lesson from each setback

In order to further reinforce the process of infusing my subconscious with positive energy I am also looking for positive feedback from people in what I am trying to do. So if you can provide some helpful positive feedback to this article please do.

I will be writing follow up articles on my experiences with using positive affirmations, watch this space.

PS, if you are in need of some encouraging words, please let me know.

Simon

I am a husband, and father of one son who works as an engineer. I became involved in writting articles about self improvement and positive attitude as part of a process of developing a more positive attitude to life myself.

I am committed to making my thoughts freely available to anybody who takes interest in reading my articles in the hope that they can similarly make their attitude more positive.

For anybody who is interested in improving their attitude to life and would like to see more of my articles or simply wants some advice on how they can feel better about themselves please visit my website http://www.positivity.9f.com - I am interested in any feedback about whether my articles are providing a positive benefit.

The Power Of Positive Thinking - 5 Useful Tips To Manifest Your True Power

By Lucas Adamski

To really see the power of positive thinking you have to believe in it. Perhaps you watched movies like “The Secret” and know that it can bring many positive things in your life. Everyone want to be happy, positive thinking can give to your life more colors and possibilities. Here are my top 5 useful tips to enjoy your life even more.

1. Affirmations are always a good way to tell to your subconscious mind positive phrases like: 'I can do it', 'It is very easy', It is possible' or some longer about your future goals. Affirmation can only work if you absolutely believe in it and repeat it quite often. Every time you are waiting for something or your mind is free try to repeat your affirmations.

2. Monitor your thoughts every day. I know it’s impossible to monitor all your thoughts but those main ones. Try to measure amount of negative and positive thoughts that you cross through day. When you catch yourself of negative thought try to find the source of such thinking and transform it to positive. After time it will become automatic, when you will think about negative things, reminding bad events in past you will stop it. It can become very tiring at start as it’s not too easy to reform pattern in your brain that cause creating negative thoughts. It takes some effort at start if you tend to attract to your mind negative thoughts.

3. Visualization is a powerful tool where you can experience the power of positive thinking. Visualization is amazing think if you can do it right. Think about future in positive way, pick what are your main goals and dreams, focus on them and think about how your life will look like than if you will achieve it. Be a daydreamer, everyday find few minutes to relax for a moment and flow to your dream world. In visualization key thinks is felling and emotions. You have to feel as you already achieve your goals and dreams.

4. Try to find every day 20-30 minutes to yoga, meditation or any other activity that can calm your mind. Stay then in positive attitude, enjoy the moment and relax. Positive thinking to any activity will bring you better results.

5. Everyday when you wake up tell to your mind, tell to yourself that it’s going to be a great day. Nothing will disturb your positive attitude and you will achieve more than ever. The power of positive thinking is really powerful, practice it on daily basis and enjoy your life.

3 Easy Steps to Create Your Own Positive Daily Affirmations

By Shane Hunte

Lots of people ask the question how affirmations can help them get through their day or achieve their greatest desires.

My answer to this usually follows with a little explanation of how the mind works. Then that person realizes why everyone should spend a little time daily meditating on their own positive daily affirmations.

Let's look at the stage of your life when impressions on your subconscious mind will be a part of you until you grow old and gray. I'm talking about your child hood.

Think for a minute about when you were growing up. If in these early stages of life you were surrounded by violence, don't you think then you may very well grow up being violent?

If that is the only force your mind was subjected to then that is all you will know. Violence becomes your first reaction to the unlimited challenges of life.

If you were subjected to positive affirmations of love, peace and prosperity then your outcome would be different.

Whatever is implanted into your mind or whatever you hold closely in your thoughts is what you will act upon.

If your mind is subjected to thoughts of infinite power, motivation, happiness and riches, then subconsciously your mind will start to work on a way to achieve those things that you deeply desire.

With that being said, you should create your own positive daily affirmations to get your mind aroused about your desires.

Here are three easy steps to creating your own positive daily affirmations:

Step 1: Look deep within yourself and write out thoroughly what you want out of life. What is your biggest desire? What do you want more than anything? With this information you will be building the foundation for the instructions for your mind to follow to achieve these desires.

Step 2: You need to clearly write the way you intend on achieving these desires. Don't let money be the problem because it will come trust me. If your desire is to become a singer or song writer, then write the statement of your intentions of how you will get you music heard.

Step 3: Now it is time to write out your affirmations or instructions to your mind to keep your eye on the prize; in other words to create a way for you to accomplish the statement of your intentions to achieve the desire that you have written in the first step.

You need to create affirmations that will motivate and energize you to act on your intentions. Here's an example for the aspiring singer/song writer from before. An example of this persons affirmations can go as follows:

1. I want to hear myself on national radio singing songs that I've written.

2. I want people to feel the same passion from my music that I feel when I'm singing and writing it.

3. When people hear my music they will feel happy and uplifted.

4. I will become a singer/song writer because I have the talent, passion and determination.

5. I will never stop fighting and I will never give up, for success at anything comes from faith, determination and desire.

6. I will seek out any opportunity to get my music heard and I will not live in the fear that I'm not good enough.

7. From today I will start acting on becoming a singer/song writer.

8. I will live everyday as though I've accomplished what I've set out to become.

See how easy it is to create your own positive daily affirmations. Try to create your own now and spend some time each day meditating on them. You will be surprised at the out come.

I also use positive daily affirmations to keep my mind on track. Like me, sometimes you may get stuck trying to create your own affirmations so here is a great tool I've found to solve this problem.

This software tool will automate your positive daily affirmations sessions and help further awaken your subconcious power.

Think Positive: Using Affirmations to Create Health, Wealth and Beauty

By Laura M. Turner

You've heard the buzzwords: Attitude is everything! Change your perspective! Have a positive outlook! But, can these words really change our future? And if so, how?

In my childhood and adolescence, I was skeptical. If my brother was born without being able to walk - how could my attitude or outlook change anything?

As I got older I continued to reflect on a youth seemingly filled with disappointments and doubts. And in talking to my friends and family, I realized I wasn't alone; we've all experienced them. Then, I started taking a good, long look at myself and my feelings:
I realized that my deepest feelings were the ones guiding me forward; challenging me to reach to the depth of what I was able to feel - happy or sad - and allowed me to explore the dimensions of my being.

So, why do I share this with you? Through all the laughs, disappointment and sorrow I've learned: We can use the power of our feelings to build a stronger, happier, positive life. I've also discovered a secret way to facilitate this process: Affirmations.

How Affirmations Work

How do affirmations work? They are a simple exercise that can tap you in to this positive, creative part of yourself.

This place is free from your ego (the part of all of us that is a leaky tire in constant need of being filled up from outside sources).

Affirmations are different. They allow you to tap into the secret, powerful, depths of yourself and care for your being by affirming what is there.

Do you feel a calling toward a particular feeling you have been having? Is there something in your life that you need and desire to manifest?

If you can use you mind's eye to creatively visualize you can bring forward all that you desire. How? Simply by "affirming" that it is already here.

Creating Affirmations

The key to the success of an affirmation is its potential or the potentiality of your creative thought.

The laws of the universe will respond then not to your "asking" for what you wish - for it does not respond to begging or supplication. The universe responds to affirming statements:

I AM BEAUTIFUL!
I AM HEALTHY!
I AM KIND AND LOVING!

Thus, it takes the ideas of creative visualization one step further. It takes a picture from inside your head, a "thought" and creates a statement about this thought in a "word" or verbal format.

Take some time to affirm what is in your heart. What do you wish for? Choose an affirming statement to focus on and place your attention on it:

I AM ABUNDANT!
I AM LOVED!
Applying An Affirmation

So how to make the laws of affirmation work in your life? Let's focus for a moment on the "word" aspect of this "thought, word and action" process.

The words "I am" are a very powerful tool. These words, once again, exceed the ego. "I AM" tells the universe to put the wheels of energy in motion. It tells the universe you are ready to receive your prayer.

Already you can see the importance of this process. I AM Beautiful!

If I write this on an index card and place it in my pocket, write it several times in my notebook, say it out loud to myself: What happens? I manifest beauty! I feel beautiful.

Waiting The Results In Peace

Once you have affirmed and written you intentions and spoken them, the "action" needs to come from you. Think: If I already had the thing I wished for, what would I do?

For example: if I am beautiful - I need to ask myself: Am I wearing beautiful clothing? Is my make-up on? Am I honoring my body with exercise and nutrition? And if not: I need to take a long look at how I am treating myself - If I wasn't feeling beautiful before, perhaps treating myself better is what I need to heal.

Take a moment today to focus on what you need to heal. Then apply the Thought - Word - Action process. I think you will find it to be a powerful tool.

For more information on the beauty of affirmations please check out Louise Hay's Power Thought Cards: http://www.hayhouse.com/

Also highly recommended is Dr. Wayne W. Dyers book "There's a Spiritual Solution To Every Problem." A great read.

Remember: Affirm, take action and "wait the results in peace." Continue to remain open to receive and I think you will find that that your blessings will far exceed your expectations.

Positive Living Through Positive Thinking

By Raquel Smith

Do you yearn to live a fulfilled life? Do you feel like life has thrown you a curve ball? We all have answered yes to either one of these questions at some point in our lives. Some of us may still be answering yes to one or maybe both of those questions. The good news is you can live a fulfilled life. You can still bat a home-run with a curve ball thrown at you. There is a popular saying that goes like this, "when life gives you lemon make lemonade." That is exactly what you do and more by living a positive life through positive thinking.

You may ask, what is positive thinking? It is simply a mindset. That means, you will always find the good in every situation. No matter what is happening to you, you remain optimistic and know that all is well. Remember, as long as there is life, there is hope. I am sure you have come across people who always have a smile no matter what. Then, there are others who always seem so grouchy. I know you don't have to think twice about which one you prefer to be around. Here is the key, this is where positive thinking comes into play. The person who always says I have no money is constantly broke. The person who believes their needs will be supplied, always gets their needs met.

The fact is not about what we go through but our attitudes and thoughts about what we are going through. We must have a positive mental attitude in order to live a fulfilled life. We cannot be successful in life with a negative attitude. Negative attitude draws negative situations and failures into our lives. On the other hand, positive attitudes bring prosperity into our lives. People prefer to help people with a positive attitude. Here are seven keys to living a positive life through positive thinking:

1. Get rid of old baggage

Free your mind from what happened in the past. Star living in the here and now. You cannot change the past and harboring ill feelings only keeps you stuck in a rut. You are unable to live a successful, fulfilled life because your baggage is weighing you down. Lighten the load; you may even lose some weight by doing that. Your mind must be free of worry or grudges in order to cultivate positive thoughts.

2. Positive Self-Talk

Most of us grew up in families where negative self-talk was the norm. You always talk bad about yourself even in joking with friends. Stop it now. Your subconscious mind believes everything that you say. Therefore, you will always do negative things to sabotage your success because that is all you program yourself to do on a daily basis. Start by looking in the mirror and telling yourself that you are somebody. You deserve to be successful. You are capable of doing, being and creating whatever you want. Whenever, a negative thought pops up in your head say, "thank you for sharing." Then, replace it immediately with a positive loving thought about your self. You will find that you start feeling good about yourself and then the possibilities are endless.

3. Stop complaining

Do you realize that the more you complain the worst the situation gets. That is because you are putting out negative energy. Whatever you put out is what you get. You know that what is sown is the exact thing that is reaped. You cannot plant apple seeds and expect to reap oranges. It doesn't work. The same law applies to our lives. Instead of complaining, thank God for allowing you to see that this is a temporary situation that you are passing through. You know that you will be stronger in the end. Whatever you focus on the most is what you create in your life. Therefore, focus on joy and peace you will find that no matter what happens, you will be quite calm. The journey through the particular situation is quicker and easier. I know, I am speaking from experience.

4. Be Thankful

Be thankful for everything, good and bad. Live every moment in a state of gratitude. I have heard many people say that everyone should be grateful for their bills. Yes, that's right. Obviously, you are enjoying the convenience of many things, including a roof over your head and food on the table. The bills are a sign that you have several things to be grateful for. You are much better off than some people. Think about the homeless people, they would love to have a place of their own and some bills. Here is another thought, your creditors believe in your ability to pay your bills. That is why they send you a monthly statement. Be grateful that you are able to pay your bills. Even if you are saying I can't pay my bills, be grateful and a way will appear. Once you are totally consumed in being thankful every moment of you life, you will see a shift in your life. You will begin to live in the abundance that is rightfully yours.

5. Be Accountable

Everyone needs someone who will help them to stay on track. It could be a coach, a mentor or even a family member. You should choose someone who is not afraid to tell you that you are out of line. Let the person know that you are working on living a positive life. You would appreciate being told of any negative thing that you may say or do. It is okay if you slip up. Don't beat up yourself. Simply, be grateful that you recognize the misstep and turn it in a positive step. You should have a regular session with that person to discuss the challenges and success that you have encountered while traveling the positive thinking path. It could be weekly or monthly; whatever is convenient for both of you. You will find that you growth is faster because you have someone cheering you on.

6. Affirmations

Start the practice of using daily affirmations to increase your self awareness. You need to start the day with a positive statement. So that no matter what happens during the day you can refer back to your affirmation to keep your thoughts positive. At the end of the day you should give thanks for yet another successful day. Even if you feel like a lot of things went wrong, you must still give thanks for remaining positive. You will find that doing this continuously will make it a part of you such that you will do it automatically each day.

7. Associations

How many times have you heard the statement, "show me your friends and I will tell you who you are"? Well, that statement is true throughout the ages. You are who you associate with. Your income, your mindset and your success will be on the same level as your associates. Therefore, you must associate with positive minded people in order to be positive. You need people around you who will support you in your efforts to live a positive lifestyle. The more you associate with positive successful people, the closer you get to your goal of having a totally positive mindset.

Once you follow these seven steps on a daily basis, you will develop a positive mindset. You will grow stronger mentally and you will set the stage for massive success in your life. You may even be an example to someone else who wants to change their lifestyle to one of positive living. Positive thinking definitely guarantees positive living and life of success. It is time to change you mindset.

Positive Thinking Phrases – Upbeat Phrases to Boost Your Optimism

By Michael Lee

Let’s face it. We all want a little credit, even just the tiniest bit of recognition for a new haircut, a fetching sartorial ensemble, or a job well done. But when compliments are lacking, or words of encouragement nonexistent, then positive thinking phrases are the next best thing. Use positive thinking phrases like the ones below and give yourself a friendly pat on the back.

Positive thinking phrases, or positive affirmations, are like mantras you repeat over and over to yourself. Hopefully, by some mystifying subliminal process, the power of these words will be able to condition you to positively influence your way of thinking and as a result, your way of living.

Here are some examples:

Phrase #1: Hey, Gorgeous!

Admit it. Getting complimented for your looks is a wondrous tonic for the ego. So get out of bed, face the mirror and give your ego a boost. Nothing beats a greeting like that first thing in the morning to get you revved up for the stress of the day ahead.

Don’t worry about sounding a bit vain or conceited, as long as you do it in private and out of anyone’s earshot. And when you feel good inside, it’ll reflect on your outer person, making you even more attractive. It won’t be long before others will notice and compliment you as well.

Phrase #2: Yes, I can!

Another variant of this is, “Ain’t nothin’ to it but to do it,” as mentioned in the show, Hey Arnold, on Nickelodeon. In order to accomplish something, you must first believe in your heart that you are fully capable of success.

You’ll find that it’s usually the hardest part of any endeavor—mustering enough courage. Without this belief in yourself, you can get easily discouraged and prone to quitting. Have faith. Remember, the only thing that can stop you is yourself.

Phrase #3: Here I am, World, do your worst!

It may sound like you’re inviting bad luck and catastrophe, but what this really means is that you are welcoming life’s challenges with open arms and are willing to bravely take them on.

Like a proud sentinel in a storm, you stand firm against anything flung at you. And no matter how muddied and besieged you emerge from the battle, you emerge nonetheless, ever ready to fight and live another day. Plus, it’s a really cool motto, don’t you think?

Try these positive thinking phrases on for size and get yourself in the mood for life.

Make Your Life Better Through Positive Affirmations

By Chris C Collins

For a moment I want you to imagine that you can have anything. Can you see how wonderful it would be? I don't mean picture it and then say to yourself, "yea right". Genuinely place the thought that your desires are going to be met in your mind. Once you gain this belief in your brain, you are well on your way to turning your life around for the better. This is not magic nor mumbo jumbo, what I propose is convincing your brain you have the skills to be a winner. Once you can actually believe it things, start coming around for you. Things will get better, and you can place all of the praise for this miraculous change upon your own shoulders. Your confidence will build, for the first time you can become truly honest with yourself and begin to know yourself more than you ever did before. I did not make this discovery there are many other articles and concepts that report many of these same facts. However I developed my own creative approach to this method after discovering it for myself nearly by accident. The changes it has made for me have been astounding.

You may read this, and claim this is an impossible feat. That there is no way that you can make anything better than you have right now. At least not without hard work and so many struggles you will barely be able to handle it. The latter part of these comments has a partial truth. However if you are ready to convince yourself you cannot make a positive change in yourself, you may want to stop reading now. This is not an advertisement nor a fallacy and if you choose to read on, I suggest you place your total confidence in these words. The reason for this is simple, this will begin to force your mind to comprehend you are ready to change.

Here is the only mysticism you are going to find in this article. Your brain has enormous power and once you channel it correctly to believe in yourself, the positive changes you can make in your life are tremendous. So you might ask to yourself why everyone is not rich, famous and happily ever after? The reason is actually quite plain, our education system, our lives, are traditions are based on placing ourselves in a particular place. Some rise to a comfortable plateau and stay there. Others take much longer to gain a comfortability and are much to tired once they reach where they are going.

Believe me, I have been in a rut so long I wondered if I would ever begin to come out. Even now I still am making changes. However mark my words I have been able to take many remarkable steps too making my life better. First of all a simple interest in Hypnosis and NLP(Neuro Linguistic Programming) began to take root several years ago. To make positive changes, to learn new skills and simply because they are cool. In the beginning I would listen to a few hypnosis tapes, and skim texts. I learned quite a bit, and learned these are both very viable techniques in making positive changes in your life. Let me tell you without a doubt, I have never slept more peacefully than the night I fell asleep while listening to my first hypnosis tape.

Through research and discovery I began to learn what hypnosis really was, and how it helped you. NLP is a technique to reprogramming your brain. It is based on theories such as that your brain may actually be wired wrong, and how to rewire it. I have learned through experimentation that NLP is as authentic as Hypnosis for a more healthy mind. Hypnosis can be used for fun and treatment. NLP can be used to improve a healthy brain, but is often used in cases where the brain is not working correctly. In these cases NLP is usually the way to go. Your cerebral control is not working correctly and NLP can teach you to live more healthy and control your brain. At the same time I began thinking, there are links between the two that are undeniable. Both of these practices have some of these common factors:

1) You have to have a comfortable belief that these practices are real and can work.

2) Hypnotists take you on a journey and plant seeds, but your brain does all the work. NLP teaches your brain to focus, yet your brain restructures itself.

3) Both are based on Positive Affirmations that you plant within yourself.

Then a light bulb went off in my head, Positive Affirmations. Could it be that simple, that strong Positive Affirmations from your conscious to sub conscious mind can help you gain your hearts desires. As I played this over in my mind, I began experimenting. First of all I had spent several weeks being depressed, jobless, little energy, constant headaches, nightmares, cold sweats I was a wreck. The more I dwelt on my problems, the worse my life was becoming. Usually many people would take that time to go begin a regiment of medication from a doctor. At the very least, they would drowned there sorrows in booze and make there lives worse. When you are down and out your self control dwindles. You begin to lose the ability to deny yourself things that may hurt you. Finally you begin a stage where you make bad choices for temporary relief.

What I learned through my experimenting was astonishing! Through the wonderful techniques called positive thinking, belief that it would work, cleansing breaths, the power of eight, a mirror and my own voice speaking Positive Affirmations my life started improving drastically immediately. The best part of this, is no special training is needed. Once you read this article you can do this yourself.

If you are feeling to overweight, uncreative, non-energetic, cannot sleep, and many other afflictions that are plaguing you this is for you! Are you having uncommon medical problems that seem to pop up, could they be anxiety based? This could work wonders for you! Do you have unrealistic dreams and you want them to become realistic goals? This is for you! What you will gain is not the ability to create a reality out of thin air, but the ability to compel yourself to work towards your needs, wants, and desires.

First lets discuss how your mind actually works. First of all your brain is really two minds in one, the conscious mind and the sub- conscious mind. The conscious mind, is a logical, orderly part of your brain that functions to process bits of data at one time. Your sub-conscious mind is like a super computer and intuitively operates your body and processes information easily. Your body is the most amazing machine on the planet, and your sub-conscious mind controls every last bit of it. Your sub-conscious mind can also do so much more.

Once you accept this as fact, here is the simple road map.

1) Read this article.

2) Believe in your minds ability to make powerful changes in your life. Essentially believe in yourself.

3) Be open to making a difference in your life.

Would you believe some people are so comfortable being in a rut, they would rather stay in it? The actual truth is they have so little belief they can gain a positive break, they have given up.

4) Read this article.

5) Begin to learn how your conscious mind can send Positive Affirmations or Messages to your sub-conscious mind.

6) Read this article.

7) Practice your Positive Affirmations everyday, experiment with new ones, do not stop until you gain a positive and lasting result.

8) Enjoy your new life!

It really is this simple. Basically all of the methods that are used by therapists and entertainment professionals, all have many things in common when it pertains to conditioning the mind. Theses non-pharmaceutical methods are all based on the simple premise of getting thoughts past your conscious mind to our sub-conscious mind. I mentioned your sub-conscious mind was like a super computer didn't I. Super computers are like a big dummy appliance, they do what they are programmed to do. Hypnosis, NLP, Persuasion Methods, so called Mind Magicians, and even seduction techniques all know how to send programming to your sub-conscious mind.

Don't believe it? Have your doubts? Well I am a skeptic too! What changed my mind is that finally I had concrete scientific evidence that it was real. One tip that is often used in side shows or seduction techniques is misdirection. A masterful form of misdirection is you make your conscious mind concentrate on one thing just long enough to send a command or programming line to your sub-conscious mind. Another is a repetitive thought or sound sent to your sub-conscious mind to be picked up and learned.

Since beginning this method I have quit smoking, lost 25 pounds, gained energy and more importantly focus. I have become more creative and have a better memory. The most amazing thing coming from a life long insomniac, I have begun to sleep peacefully. My life is on the path to achieving realistic goals I have set. The seeds have rooted with a determination to achieve my wants and desires each day, each breath I take. Ultimately this path will take me on a trip to achieve my desires.

This method is completely simple, almost painfully so. I could not believe it works this well. I could not comprehend why I had not been able to think of it before. The answer is actually simple, scientists are just now beginning to truly understand the brain. A long known theory is that we only use 1/3 of our brains. That means that each of us are already at some disadvantage to the world around us. Understanding how to take it back and control our minds can be enormous.

Now that I have proven to you why this works, here is the process:
1) This can easily be done as many times as you would like during the day. It also should be done everyday for at least the first two weeks. Then you can do this three times a week or continue several times a day.

2) Now you will look in a mirror and your are going to take a hard look at yourself. Begin evaluating what changes you would like to make about yourself. It is very important to start small. Once you have decided on the things you would like to change, make a mental list. It actually might be a better to buy a poster-board and put these goals on it. Hang this poster-board in a place where you have to look at it many times everyday.

3) Once you are armed with your goals in mind, you are going to structure your Positive Affirmations. You are making these Positive Affirmations one for each goal. It is important not to be vague, be direct and commanding. For instance say that I want to lose 10 pounds by next month. I begin my month with a Positive Affirmation that states I WILL LOSE 10 POUNDS BY NEXT MONTH.

4) Begin by taking a few moments and take deep cleansing breaths. In your nose, hold for three seconds, out your mouth. Try to imagine your body is relaxing. For instance begin thinking you are an ice cube. An ice cube is hard and not relaxed. However you are going to slowly turn the heat up on that ice cube. As you take deep cleansing breaths, imagine that ice cube is melting. Eventually you will be able to imagine your body as a bright blue pool of water. Remember water is free flowing it can flow virtually anywhere and it is free.
5) This may take a couple of days of practice but everyday it will become more and more easier to place your body in a relaxed free state.

6) Now that you have your Positive Affirmations, you are relaxed and ready to begin you will stand in front of a mirror. A bathroom mirror or even better a full length mirror. Now you will take your list of Positive Affirmations while staring yourself in the eyes and repeat each Affirmation out loud to yourself eight times. You want to use positive, enunciated, and commanding speech while speaking your intent. While you are speaking these Affirmations eight times to yourself, each time it is important that you try to visualize achieving this goal. If you cannot get a clear picture that is fine. The importance of the visualization is that each time you say your affirmation you believe it will happen.

7) Repeat! Repeat! Repeat! For the first two weeks repeat this simple process three times a day. Do not let surprise over initial success cause you to stop doing this. For positive results it is important that you plant these commands deeply.

A final note, it does not matter how many items are on your Positive Affirmation list. Keep in mind you want to keep it simple in the beginning. As this process becomes habit you can add more complicated items.

Now you can understand how simple this re-programming of your sub-conscious mind really is. With very little practice, a little effort and some time you will be well on your way to obtaining your life goals. Unless you were to win the lottery this cannot make large amounts of money appear from thin air. Instead what this will do for you is open a whole wide world of opportunity for you, you have never seen before. That is a priceless commodity that you can use to obtain all of your wildest dreams and desires. Honestly I am not telling these formulas can make you a success, a celebrity or rich. What I am telling you is a door will open to a powerful potential you never knew you had. With Positive Affirmation the sky really has no limit.

Affecting Positive Results Through Affirmations

By Joel S. Nelson

Last time we talked about how to begin building the mind's powerful framework for success. The lesson we needed to learn was that self-talk has a powerful affect on the results we achieve. We learned that the mind will manifest whatever we dwell on, be it negative or positive.

This week, I would like to continue with our discussion of self-talk and suggest how you may supercharge your self-talk and the results you achieve through the use of affirmations.

Affirmations are a powerful mental programming technique that are underutilized and laughed at by many. You may remember the Saturday Night Live skit with Stuart Smiley sitting in front of the mirror saying "I'm good enough; I'm smart enough and doggone-it, people like me!" The image of this character makes one laugh, however when understood in the context of how powerful Stuart's technique really is, it shouldn't!

Affirm means to "make firm." So affirmation simply means to make a strong statement that something is already so. We know that we will eventually reap whatever our conscious mind sows onto the field of the subconscious. So through affirmations we will develop into whatever image of ourselves we create, be it good or bad. I suggest using positive affirmations to develop into all that you desire to be!

One of the most poignant examples of the power of affirmations comes from the boxing legend Muhammed Ali. When you think of Muhammed Ali, what vision comes to mind? Actually, two visions come to my mind:

The first is of Ali standing in the ring over a defeated opponent with a sweat covered face, surrounded by his trainers. Ali yells, "I'm the king of the world, I am the greatest, I'm Muhammed Ali. I shook up the world, I am the greatest, I'm king of the world. I'm pretty, I'm pretty, I'm a baaaad man, you heard me, I'm a baaad man."

The second is of Ali wrapped in his boxing robe, dancing from side to side before a bout. He exclaims, "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee." Is this simply brash talk from yet another cocky athlete? I don't believe so. I believe that Muhammed Ali knew the power of affirmations. He spoke what he wanted to be, and as a result became it.

For the purposes of improving yourself and achieving the successes you've always desired, I want you to take it on faith that affirmations DO work. Give it a try, if only for a couple months and then make up your mind whether to keep using them.

In order to do this, you will need to know some basics about how to get the most out of affirmations. First, the subconscious mind does not understand the future tense. When you use affirmations, you should always speak of the present. The past does work but not nearly as well. Speak as if the things you want are happening in your life right now. For example, if your goal is to become the manager of a division you currently work in, you need to picture it now:

"I am enjoying the title and responsibility of being manager for the ABC Division of XYZ Company and am doing successful and important work. I am being recognized by my peers and my employer for my good and honorable efforts."

The affirmations need to be positive and personal! You should usually start your statement with "I." The affirmation should be specific. Tell your mind exactly what it is that you want and you will get better results.

The affirmation should also be short, easy to remember, and easy to apply.
Finally, your affirmation should be emotionally intense! Don't just say it, BELIEVE IT. Shout it at the top of your lungs if you must, but convince your mind, no matter how hard, that it is actually true. This is so important! Your success in using affirmations will live or die on how intensely you can get your mind to buy into your spoken words.

I believe that you should write down and repeat your affirmations at least twice a day. I recommend that you do it as soon as you wake up and right before you go to bed. Your assignment for the next two weeks is to write down five affirmations that you want in your life. Repeat them, at least twice a day, for two weeks. If you do so, I believe that you will be quickly on the path to achieving the success you desire.

To Your Success,

Joel

A Positive Mind Is a Quietly Confident Mind

By James Delrojo

I'm sure that virtually everyone in the western world has heard of the concept of positive thinking. I am equally sure that almost as many people have no idea as to what a positive mind really is and how it can help you achieve happiness in life.

Most people seem to associate positive thinking with an upbeat state of mind where the so called positive person is always talking about positive things and repeating positive affirmations and is all enthusiastic and fired up most of the time. This is not positive thinking. This is positive mania.

Positive mania is almost as bad as negative mania. The mind is overly active. The fact that it is overly active on positive things does not counteract the fact that an overly active, noisy mind is not the type of mind required for maximum success.

The noisy part of the mind is the conscious mind. However the minds that you really need to get on side for success are the subconscious mind and the even deeper, spiritual mind. When the conscious mind is overly active it interferes with the sound functioning of the subconscious mind and the spiritual mind.
The role of the conscious mind is to hand down clear, non-ambiguous goals to the subconscious mind. These goals have to be supported by congruent goal oriented actions. If this is achieved then the subconscious will establish habit patterns to help you achieve your goals and also hand those goals on to the spiritual mind. The spiritual mind is the mind that communicates directly with universal consciousness; the field of all possibility.

The noisy mind, whether noisy with positive rhetoric or with negative rhetoric interferes with these positive aspects of the deeper minds and thereby keeps your best players on the side line and out of the success game.

The best way to activate the positive aspects of those deeper facets of mind is to quieten the conscious mind and allow your mental energy to focus on the subconscious and spiritual mind processes. This is achieved most fully in a state of meditation, but it can also be functionally achieved throughout the day by having a quietly focused conscious mind.

The high achievers in life tend not to be running around rah-rahing. They don't spend their time ramming positive affirmation down the ears of everyone they're talking to. They are not mentally hyperactive.

The high achievers have a quieter, more focused, self confidence. Their form of positive thinking is their belief that they will achieve their goals regardless of any obstacle. They are positive in their focus and in their actions and don't really care whether or not other people are impressed by them or whether or not other people would regard them as positive.

The person who has to make a lot of noise about being positive is more likely to be a person trying to convince himself or herself that life is going to work out for them. They will either mature into the quietly confident, high achieving, truly positive person or else they will burn out.

If you are in this hyperactive form of positive thinking then perhaps it is time for you to spend some time developing a focused, steady mind and allow the truly powerful subconscious mind and the even more powerful spiritual mind to do the job that they are best at; directing you to a happy and fulfilling life.
